Hoe zeg je de tijd in het Nederlands? How do you tell time in Dutch?
De klok is verdeeld in 5 zones: The clock is divided into 5 zones:
:00 – :15
over [uur / hour]
vijf over drie
past the current hour
:20 – :25
voor half [volgend uur]
tien voor half vier
before half, next hour!
:30
half [volgend uur]
half vier = 3:30
half + next hour!
:35 – :40
over half [volgend uur]
vijf over half vier
past half, next hour!
:45 – :55
voor [volgend uur]
kwart voor vier
before the next hour
Alle tijden / All times
| Tijd | Nederlands | English |
|---|---|---|
| 1:00 | een uur | one o'clock |
| 1:05 | vijf over een | five past one |
| 1:10 | tien over een | ten past one |
| 1:15 | kwart over een | quarter past one |
| 1:20 | tien voor half twee | twenty past one |
| 1:25 | vijf voor half twee | twenty-five past one |
| 1:30 | half twee | half past one |
| 1:35 | vijf over half twee | thirty-five past one |
| 1:40 | tien over half twee | twenty to two |
| 1:45 | kwart voor twee | quarter to two |
| 1:50 | tien voor twee | ten to two |
| 1:55 | vijf voor twee | five to two |
Let op! In het Nederlands is "half twee" = 1:30 (niet 2:30!).
Watch out! In Dutch, "half twee" = 1:30 (not 2:30!).
The Dutch reference the next hour for :20, :25, :30, :35, and :40.
